What age can my child start dance classes?
We welcome students from as young as 2 or 3 years old in our preschool class. Classes are available for all ages and abilities, from beginners to advanced dancers
Do students need previous dance experience?
No. Classes can accommodate complete beginners as well as experienced dancers. Students are placed in classes appropriate for their age and skill level.
What dance styles do you offer?
We offer a variety of dance styles, including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary, Acro, Musical Theatre, and Commercial Dance.
Do you offer trials?
Yes. New students are welcome to attend a 2-week trial before enrolling, subject to availability. A small fee is charged for the trial period. Some classes are available as PAYG weekly (Adult Ballet, Adult Tap & Baby Boppers). If PAYG is selected, rather than termly enrollment, the trial period does not apply. Uniform is not required at trial stage, clothing that is easy to move in should be worn.
What should my child wear to class?
Students should wear appropriate dancewear and footwear for their chosen class. Uniform is available via our website shop. There is a Facebook page for secondhand uniform.
How do I register for classes?
Registration can be completed online here: Contact – Buntingford School of Dance. Once you have registered we will help you select the most suitable classes.
Registration and notice to withdraw from classes
Once a trial has been taken, you have the option to sign up for classes with us, but there is no obligation to do so. There is a one-off registration fee at this stage. If you sign up for classes, you agree to pay for a full term. Notice is required in writing to stop classes, and the notice periods are during the half-term breaks in February, May and October. e.g. if someone wishes to stop classes at Christmas, then notice is required no later than the October half-term break. If not, students are automatically re-enrolled for the following term and full fees for the following term become payable when invoiced, whether classes are attended or not. How much are the class fees?
Fees vary depending on the class length and number of classes taken. Please contact us for current fee information.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes, we offer discounts based on the quantity of classes taken per week per family. Please contact us for more details.
Are there opportunities to perform?
Yes. Students have opportunities to participate in shows and showcases, and occasional community events.
Are exams available?
Some of our classes offer the opportunity to take recognised dance examinations, helping students measure their progress and achieve qualifications.
What happens if my child misses a class?
Please notify us if you/your child is unable to attend.
Can parents watch classes?
Parents do not usually watch classes; this helps maintain a focused learning environment for all students. We hold designated parent watching days at the end of each term. If children are very young we understand they may need a familiar adult in the class for a week or two to feel fully settled.
How are students placed in classes?
Students are placed according to age, experience, technical ability, and teacher recommendation to ensure they receive the best training.
Is dance suitable for boys?
Absolutely. We welcome boys and girls of all ages and offer a supportive, inclusive environment for every dancer.
What benefits does dance provide?
Dance is a fantastic way of supporting both physical and mental wellbeing. It develops confidence, coordination, strength, flexibility, musicality, creativity, discipline, and teamwork while promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Do you offer classes for adults?
Yes. We offer adult classes for all levels of ability and experience. You may be looking to improve fitness, technique, or simply just enjoy dancing.
What if my child is nervous about starting?
Many new students feel nervous at first. Our friendly teachers create a welcoming environment and help each child settle comfortably into class.
How can I stay informed about school news and events?
We communicate through email newsletters, social media, and our website to keep families updated on classes, performances, and important dates.
How are your teachers selected?
Our teachers selected for their expertise in dance. They have either danced professionally and have significant teaching experience and / or have recognised teaching qualifications. All BSD teachers have a passion for supporting student development.
Can students pursue dance seriously?
Yes. Students who wish to progress further can access advanced training, examinations, performance opportunities, and guidance for vocational dance pathways. Current and past students have been succesful at auditions for The Royal Ballet School Associates, Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, Central School of Ballet, Rambert, Performers College, Bird College, Emil Dale Academy, Bodywork Co. Central School of Speech and Drama, Cecchetti Scholars, English Youth Ballet and more…
