Tap

Tap Dance is a form of Percussive dance characterised by using the sound of tap shoes, specially designed with metal toe and hell taps, hitting the floor as a percussive instrument. The goal in tap dancing is to produce clear, clean sounds, with various levels of tone. Apart from being an essential skill for the professional dancer, it is one of the most enjoyable and rhythmic forms of recreational dance. Its history can be traced to the clog dances of the mill towns of the North of England and the American style that grew up in the deep south alongside jazz music.

Our classes are designed to challenge artistic and technically and we follow the ISTD Tap syllabus to measure progression.

In addition to Tap classes to children from Age 4 upwards we also offer an Adult Tap class.

Our Adult Tap class is anyone who would like to join in whether an absolute beginner or a proficient tapper.
