Tap

Tap Dance is a form of Percussive dance characterised by using the sound of tap shoes, specially designed with metal toe and hell taps, hitting the floor as a percussive instrument. The goal in tap dancing is to produce clear, clean sounds, with various levels of tone. Apart from being an essential skill for the professional dancer, it is one of the mose enjoyable and rhythmic forms of recreational dance. It’s history can be traced to the clog dances of the mill towns of the North of England and the American style that grew up in the deep south alongside jazz music.

We offer Tap classes to children form Age 4 and currently have pupils at all grades from Primary up to Intermediate. We also offer a “just for fun” adult Tap class for anyone who would like to join in whether and absolute beginner or a proficient tapper.
